Council on Aging votes to keep nativity scene at church, not Senior Center deck

HUBBARDSTON -- October 22, 2025, Hubbardston's Council on Aging voted to keep its nativity scene at a church on Williamsville Road rather than move it to the Senior Center deck, citing weather damage and visibility concerns. The board, chaired in Director Claudia Provencial's lead role, also accepted a treasurer's report showing roughly $16,500 across five accounts, including $4,469.51 remaining in the formula grant fund, while awaiting the first of two semi-annual state disbursements expected to total around $9,900. Members confirmed a packed fall calendar: a 60s and 70s dance October 25 at the Rod and Gun Club, a Blue Cross Blue Shield seminar November 5 in Leominster, a Jones family Thanksgiving dinner November 22, and a Christmas fair December 6. A volunteer transport situation that morning prompted discussion of clearer protocols, with Provencial noting that seniors on Medicaid qualify for free taxi rides to medical appointments. The board's next meeting was set for November 12 at 4 p.m.
