Hubbardston Council on Aging locks in fall cookout, yard sale, and 1960s dance
HUBBARDSTON — September 10, 2025 — Hubbardston Council on Aging finalizes a packed fall lineup including a 1960s dance, yard sale, and Pennsylvania overnight trip. The council, meeting September 10, confirmed a September 17 cookout for roughly 50 guests, a September 19 to 21 yard sale being advertised in the Gardner News, the Barre Gazette, and the Worcester Telegram and Gazette, and an October 25 Friends-organized 1960s and 70s dance at a local venue with DJ Vibes, a Hubbardston resident, from 7 to 10 p.m. with a cash bar and raffle trees. An overnight trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania — featuring a production of Noah at the Sight and Sound Theatre and a dinner show at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre — is nearly full at $655 per person, with Betty Cormier assisting with logistics. Members also announced the closure of the Cash Committee, a scholarship group that had operated for 35 to 40 years and raised $2,000 to $3,000 annually, citing an inability to recruit new volunteers. As of August 20, the council's gift account held $11,875.81 and the formula grant account held $8,879.51.
