HUBBARDSTON — November 12, 2025 — Hubbardston's Council on Aging approved financial reports showing roughly $23,500 on hand while flagging a significant reconciliation gap with the town's books. Treasurer Ken Horvath reported that the town's records show the council's donation account at negative $7,800 while the council's own ledger shows a positive $6,898 balance — a swing of more than $14,000 — attributed largely to the town's failure to record an opening balance and a four-month vacancy in the town accountant position. Members voted to accept the report and set January as the target month for a formal sit-down with town accounting staff. The board also approved plans for a December 2 public Christmas concert at 2 p.m., a December 6 Christmas fair with roughly 15 vendors, and a $3,600 computer and desk upgrade — while noting the town's promised $5,000 technology contribution has not yet been confirmed.
