Trustees Approve Policies, Minutes on 4-0 Votes
Library · Meeting of September 3, 2026
Hubbardston library trustees vote 4-0 to approve seven policies, weigh Historical Society partnership. The Board of Library Trustees, meeting Thursday at Town Offices, unanimously approved animal, social media, public comment and four other draft policies after a two-trustee working group revised language for consistency. Historical Society representative Joyce Green asked whether the library's under-renovation lower level could eventually house the society's third-floor collection, which she said has "no safety glass, kids running around" concerns tied to a previously returned display case; trustees pledged a working-group liaison but said no move is planned.
Contractors reported electrical work passed inspection on the $40,000 Community Preservation Act-funded lower-level renovation, with framing complete and a change order expected to land under the board's $12,000 estimate. Library Director Christine Barbera reported 408 patrons served in August with zero curbside pickups and 229 total storytime attendees.
