Library Trustees Advance Policy Overhaul, Schedule Further Editing Before Final Vote

HUBBARDSTON — February 26, 2026 — Hubbardston Library trustees spent two hours editing their comprehensive policy document but stopped short of a vote on adoption. Chair Morgan Brinker led the February 26 session alongside trustees Krista Goguen, Chris Kisiel, and Connie Strip Matter, with Library Director Chris Barbaro also present. Strip Matter, who conducted an extensive proofreading pass before the meeting, guided trustees through changes including standardizing the library's name throughout the document, settling on "Board of Library Trustees" as the uniform governing-body reference, capitalizing "Library Director" as a formal title, and adding periods to all bullet points for screen-reader accessibility. The board renamed the "General Conduct Policy" section to "Patron Roles and Responsibilities" and debated — but did not resolve — whether the non-resident library use policy should remain standalone or be folded into the borrowing section. After reviewing roughly 22 of 29 pages, the board voted unanimously to adjourn, with Brinker and Goguen tasked with offline edits before a follow-up full-board session.
