Hubbardston Library Trustees Approve Policies, Authorize Up to $10,000 for ADA Grant

HUBBARDSTON — June 4, 2026 — Hubbardston Library Trustees approve updated policies and authorize $10,000 toward an ADA accessibility grant application. The board voted unanimously at its June 4 meeting to draw up to $10,000 from its donations account — to be reimbursed upon award — to fund a planning grant application under the state's Municipal ADA Improvement Grant Program, with a June 12 deadline. Trustees also approved eight updated policy documents, including a revised Child Safety and Conduct Policy and an Event Liability Waiver, while setting aside a Consent and Release Form as duplicative. Library Director Christine Barbera, who is also the new assistant director at Rutland, previewed a summer reading program built around archaeology and the nation's 250th anniversary, featuring an outdoor excavation pit and a proposed story time at Comet Pond. The lower-level renovation — supported by a $40,710 CPA grant — remains in a holding pattern as the board awaits a third contractor quote; both bids received so far have come in at approximately $50,000, at or above the threshold that would require a formal RFP.
