Planning Board advances aquifer protection project amid staff changes

Planning Board · Meeting of August 5, 2026

HUBBARDSTON — Planning Board charts course on aquifer protection modernization. Chair Kristofer Munroe reported contacting Places and Associates to find an engineer for hydrogeological mapping, with the Board discussing hydrogeologist scope and funding while examining low-yield aquifer delineation methods. Associate Mark Kresge raised whether the current map's basis in low-permeability stratified drift deposits is sound for future protection bylaws, suggesting the hydrogeologist assess alternatives if needed.

The Board concluded the aquifer project is fundamental to the concurrent Sandpit Overlay work and will sequence activities based on aquifer initiative development.
