Hubbardston Select Board Seats New Meeting House Committee, Approves Cannabis Policy
HUBBARDSTON — September 15, 2025 — Hubbardston Select Board adopts First Meeting House Preservation Committee charge and cannabis equity policy at busy September 15 meeting. The board voted to seat a new preservation committee at its October 6 meeting, where it will review applications — four already submitted — and set a final member count after leaving the number open Monday night. A Host Community Municipal Equity policy required by the Cannabis Control Commission, covering expedited permitting for social equity cannabis applicant Paper Crane, passed 3-0 with two abstentions; several members objected that the policy creates unequal treatment but acknowledged no practical avenue to refuse. Town Administrator Nate reported a $94,000 joint MVP planning grant with Hardwick for school rooftop solar feasibility, new meeting room furniture procured for $7,000 against a $24,000 original quote, and a state Municipal Modernization Award for HubConnect. The board also authorized a certificate of appreciation for Mark Kresge, credited with designing the newly completed ADA-accessible Dottie Rock Trail, to be presented at Wednesday's ribbon cutting on Malone Road.
