Select Board votes down school agreement

Select Board · Meeting of October 27, 2026

Hubbardston Select Board voted not to recommend a Quabbin Regional School District agreement and split 2-1 on bylaws restricting camping and overnight parking. Meeting ahead of Town Meeting with three members present, including Kris Pareago and Terry Tyler, the board unanimously backed most of the 11 warrant articles, including $520,934 in fiscal 2027 unclassified expenses, a $50,000 energy stabilization fund transfer and $15,000 for First Meeting House studies. On the camping and parking articles, brought by the Board of Health after an unhoused person was found parking overnight at a town entrance, one member said, "I'm going to not be in favor.

I'm disapproving on that one because I think it's problematic." The board declined to recommend the school agreement over an unresolved $5,000 threshold dispute.
