Select Board · Meeting of October 7, 2026
Hubbardston's Select Board interviewed two finalists for town administrator but made no decision. Matthew Boiteau, an assistant town manager in Concord, and James Ryan, an assistant town administrator in Templeton, each fielded about 19 questions on budgeting, union negotiations and crisis management over roughly two and a half hours. Ryan put Hubbardston's budget at about $12 million with debt service near $263,000, or 2.15 percent, while Boiteau cited a $12.24 million budget with 60 percent going to the regional school district.
Chair Kathryn Young told candidates the board wants a leader who can get "all in the damn boat" and "row together." The board authorized background and reference checks on both finalists and will resume deliberations October 13 at 6:30 p.m.
