Hubbardston Select Board Clears Brigham Road Truck Ban, Closes Tech Grant

HUBBARDSTON — October 6, 2025 — Hubbardston Select Board unanimously advances Brigham Road heavy-vehicle exclusion and closes $40,000 tech grant. The board voted Monday to authorize Town Administrator Nathan Boudreau to file a formal application with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and schedule a public hearing, tentatively October 20, to implement a two-and-a-half-ton vehicle limit on the upper portion of Brigham Road, rerouting heavy trucks via Evergreen and Old Princeton roads to Route 68. The board also voted unanimously to submit the closeout report for the town's $40,000 Community Compact Best Practices Implementation Grant, which funded HubConnect, an internally built digital management and succession-planning system Boudreau described as delivering a reported 65 percent reduction in service-request response times and a 50 percent reduction in payroll processing time — figures the board directed be restated as raw numbers before submission. A draft private-way plowing policy was continued to a future meeting pending legal review of liability exposure, and a proposed joint elected-vacancy appointment policy was returned to Boudreau's office for amendment after member Katie Young successfully moved to add a provision for affected boards to meet publicly with applicants before a joint appointment session.
