Hubbardston Select Board Posts Interim Town Administrator Opening After Fitzgerald Departure
Select Board · Meeting of July 20, 2026
Hubbardston Select Board called a special meeting to repost its interim town administrator position after incumbent Sean Fitzgerald accepted a job closer to home. Chair Katie Young told the four-member quorum that Fitzgerald, who had committed to staying through December, will leave within roughly a week, forcing a second interim search in quick succession. The board voted 4-0 to post the revised opening — prepared by Fitzgerald himself before his departure, complete with the town seal and a link to the town charter — with applications due July 31 and a review scheduled for the August 3 regular meeting.
The board simultaneously voted 4-0 to repost volunteer openings for the Town Administrator Search Committee, lowering the minimum membership threshold from nine to seven to speed reconstitution, after all prior committee terms lapsed. "We got to kind of do something regardless or we'll be playing solo for a much longer period of time," Young said.
