Council on Aging Approves Treasurer's Report, Plans Spring Events for Seniors

HUBBARDSTON — February 18, 2026 — Hubbardston's Council on Aging approved routine financials and laid groundwork for two community events at its February 18 meeting. Treasurer Ken Horvath reported combined balances of just over $30,900 across five accounts, including $9,339.67 in formula grant funds and $7,604.62 in the gift account. The board is organizing a free St. Patrick's Day soup-and-singing event for March 17, featuring Irish stew, breads, desserts provided by the Friends organization, and a sing-along beginning at 11 a.m. A proposed one-day bus trip to Ogunquit, Maine — tentatively June 10 or 11 — would include a performance of "Ain't Too Proud" at the Ogunquit Playhouse and a three-course lunch at Jonathan's restaurant for $124 per person, with a $50 nonrefundable deposit required and a minimum of 40 participants needed. Board members also noted that a financial reconciliation between the COA and town government remains unresolved, with one member saying he "would be shocked" if any reconciliation occurred before summer.
