Hubbardston Select Board appoints temporary administrator, posts for interim replacement

HUBBARDSTON — December 22, 2025 — Hubbardston Select Board named a temporary town administrator and launched a three-track hiring process as outgoing administrator Nathan Budro's contract ends December 26. The board voted unanimously Monday to appoint Patricia Low as temporary administrator through December 29 with a $250 weekly stipend, approved a job posting for an interim town administrator with a noon December 29 application deadline at roughly 20 hours per week, and established a search committee of at least seven members to recruit a permanent hire. In a separate finance action, the board accepted a proposal from retired Division of Local Services official Marca Bohank to provide accounting cleanup services at $100 per hour, with fiscal year 2025 books still unclosed and free cash uncertified. Staff also disclosed that a 2017 town-meeting-approved debt exclusion for a fire truck — originally around $250,000 — was never entered on the state's required DE1 form and will now appear as a new line item on next year's tax bills, a discovery staff said delayed final state approval of this year's tax rate.
