Hubbardston Board Votes to Plow Private Road, Seek $3,000 Reserve Transfer

HUBBARDSTON — December 29, 2025 — Hubbardston Select Board authorizes emergency plowing of private Plum Tree Lane and extends temporary town administrator's term. The board voted unanimously December 29 to engage Grasshopper landscaping to plow the snow-covered private road after resident Erica Pisan told the board she had a $25,000 medication delivery at risk and that mail had not reached the lane in a week. Board member Katie Young said the only available funding source is the town's $40,000 reserve fund, and directed temporary Town Administrator Patricia Low — whose term was extended through January 5 at $250 per week — to file a $3,000 transfer request with Finance Committee Chair Seth Knipe. The board also voted to offer the assistant treasurer-collector position at $23 per hour, to appoint outgoing treasurer-collector Mary Laroo as temporary accountant through February 28 at her prior consultant rate, and to name DPW Director Travis Brown as chief procurement officer — a designation required before the town can legally issue requests for proposals, including for a pending library grant.
