Health board strikes expired permit, warns on staffing
Board of Health · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Hubbardston Board of Health warns clerk's exit and a hiring freeze will slow permit work. Meeting at 48 Gardner Road, the board unanimously approved its September 8 minutes and struck an expired temporary food permit tied to a senior center group, saying "the date is passed, so we can't sign this." Members signed several Title V and septic permits, including for properties on Mayo Road and Plum Tree Road, and reviewed three open compliance cases involving an unreachable owner, a locked Pondview condominium tied to a deceased owner, and a Dogwood rental property linked to a sewage complaint. The chair warned that with the shared clerk departing and a townwide hiring freeze in place, "there will be impact to this board because we cannot really move things as fast as we intend to." The board also flagged roughly two years of unpaid revenue owed on its collection bins and confirmed its next meeting for October 13.
