Hubbardston Council on Aging votes on finances amid town administrator's paid leave

HUBBARDSTON — December 17, 2025 — Hubbardston Council on Aging confronts town financial uncertainty at December 17 meeting. The council voted unanimously to accept treasurer's and secretary's reports showing a formula grant account of $12,382.51, a gift account of $6,979.69, a supplies account of $2,569.33, and a service account of $1,335 — nearly zeroed out by a pending $1,200 software maintenance fee. Director Claudia told members she had received an email that afternoon from Katie Young, identified as acting town contact, reporting the town administrator is on paid administrative leave and that the Select Board is asking departments to limit extra expenditures pending a financial review. The director said the formula grant account has not been reconciled with town records for an extended period and said she plans to seek a meeting with the Select Board, telling members, "I want to know where my money is." A new town treasurer is due to start the following Monday. The council moved its next meeting to January 14, 2026 to allow time before the director's planned travel.
