Hubbardston Council on Aging Confirms Fall Events, Hears Renovation Progress

HUBBARDSTON — September 10, 2025 — Hubbardston's Council on Aging confirmed a full fall schedule at its September 10 meeting, including a September 17 cookout for roughly 50 guests, a three-day yard sale September 19 through 21, and an October 25 dance hosted by the Friends of the Senior Center. The 60s and 70s themed dance will be held at the Rotten Gun from 7 to 10 p.m. with a cash bar and DJ Vibes, a Hubbardston resident. An overnight trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to see the Sight and Sound Theatre's production of Noah is priced at $655 per person, covering transportation, tickets, meals, and lodging, with a waiting list in place after two recent cancellations; Betty Cormier is assisting with coordination. Renovation work at the Senior Center — including volunteer painting and new office flooring — was described as nearly complete after just two days. The group also heard that the Cash Committee, which has raised $2,000 to $3,000 annually for local scholarships through fried dough concessions at town events for 35 to 40 years, is disbanding for lack of volunteers, with existing scholarship funds to be awarded but no future fundraising events planned.
