Conservation · Meeting of August 25, 2026

HUBBARDSTON — The Hubbardston Conservation Commission approved two negative determinations and continued a third hearing after losing its quorum. Chair Bryan LaRochelle recused himself from Jarod Hardaker's culvert and pasture RDA, leaving members Rich Clapham and Brock Germinara to vote unanimously to continue the hearing to October 6. The board separately approved, by unanimous vote, a negative determination allowing William Homans to cut nine hazardous trees at a Pinecrest beach, conditioned on leaving stumps in place and keeping felled trees out of the water, and approved engineer Mark Elbag's Title V septic replacement plan for a Hale Road property owned by Gaballa Dakash, with a condition requiring documentation of a retaining wall rebuild.

Members also debated how to handle an anonymous complaint about tree cutting at 89 Grimes Road, with resident Mike Stoll arguing "the town has to take some kind of action" regardless of whether a complainant signs their name; the board agreed to send the property owner a standard notice letter rather than pursue enforcement.
