HUBBARDSTON — The Open Space Committee planned a Scout Trail hardening project at Malone Conservation Area by November 30. Chair Bob Hatch is developing the project plan, which requires equipment rental and labor from two teams. Rick Jones reported that staff corrected a major accounting error in the Mass Trails Grant program, which had shown a nearly $28,000 deficit but actually carries a $2,626 positive balance, allowing planned grant-funded work to proceed.
The committee also refined invasive plant control strategies at Malone, with member emeritus Mark Kresge proposing changes to brush hogging to better support chemical treatment efforts.
